January 22th, 2014: Stop fights and divisions

Appeal for Peace and Democracy in Ukraine

We, people with disabilities from all over Europe, united in our struggle for non-discrimination, full inclusion and participation at all levels of society, we are scared with what is going on in Ukraine.

In March 2012, disabled people organizations met in Kiev for a two-days Workshop on the Universal Periodic Review, to report on how Human Rights are respected and how International Conventions are implemented. We, persons with disabilities from all over Ukraine and Europe, shared different stories from our life and our own experiences, disability communities, DPO's work in Ukraine, gaps and challenges.

We have succeeded, we found new ways to be more supportive to each other, stronger and proud of what we achieved.

Dear politicians from the Atlantic to the Urals, look at us. It takes a lot of support among ourselves to be independent and still more is needed to have our Human Rights respected, this is why we are also stronger! Division means weakness, so mutual support is vital. Your responsibility is to empower all citizens, whatever his or her gender, origin, culture, belief or capabilities.

Dear Friends from Ukraine, accept our sympathy for your people and the marvelous Ukrainian land. You have demonstrated your determination, your choice for an inclusive society in which people can enjoy their Human Rights whatever his or her abilities.

Dear Friends citizens from Europe and from the world, express your voice to give a chance to the future by choosing peace and happiness, to create links, reinforce those that exist. Give a chance to each to open developing possibilities to all. Were elected as members of the Executive Committee:
